I’ve decided to transition on to Substack for a multitude of reasons that you’ll soon discover.
Substack operates on a membership basis, creating a friendly and respectful community. The membership options are explained at the end of this post, and I’d so appreciate you subscribing, which includes a free first month!
As many of you know, I have created content on open and public online platforms for eleven years now. Despite the large following being somewhat unexpected (I was definitely unprepared for the snowball effect of YouTube back in the early days!) I am so grateful for the opportunities it has provided me. But mostly, quite honestly, grateful for the community.
Building a community - even if online - has been my greatest achievement in life!
It feels like we have built a family community with people all around the world. To really sit with that and consider it - how wild is it that there are over 1 million of us connected in every corner of the Earth through my platforms?! It blows my mind even to this day, eleven years on. I remember being at a Beyonce concert (epic) and looking around the O2 stadium at the 20,000 dots of faces and realising they were only a tiny fraction of the online family I’ve created. I still to this day cannot fathom that many people!
When I say my online audience is like family, I’m referring to the love and support that has been shared collectively, not just directed to me but to each other, who are mostly like-minded women. To observe the love being shared from women to women makes my heart burst. Women following me have told me they see me as their best friend or big sister, and that’s the greatest compliment. We really have been through thick and thin together, growing up together over a decade through some of the most tumultuous times of our 20s and in to our early 30s. We have formed a sisterhood of over a million women around the world. I appreciate and recognise the long-time followers especially - I call these my ‘Bright Tribe’ because I feel we have established a deeply connected and loving collective of unwavering support.
So the downside of all this? Sadly, the trolling. As above, so below. So the positive, so the negative. So the Bright Tribe, so the Shadows.
I coined the darker side of social media the ‘Shadows’, which seemed appropriate considering the darkness that is so often shared. I’m not just referring to the abuse I receive on my platforms of course - this is unfortunately seen across the whole realm of social media, received by content creators and celebrities, but also most notably the public including young school children. It’s not right. I’ve been told over and over it’s just part and parcel of having an online profile, but I don’t think it should be. Why should we all tolerate the online bullies? If we had strangers with their pitch forks outside our homes every night showering abuse at us they would be arrested.
I’ve spent so much time racking my brains trying to find a solution to all this. I can put up with it as I have for so many years now, but it’s when I hear of young school children terrified to go into school on a Monday morning having received anonymous abuse over the weekend that really breaks my heart and has made me realise how this simply cannot continue. I’m also realising more and more that it isn’t right that I have tolerated all of this myself - the more I build up my self-worth, the less I am willing to tolerate, and the stronger my boundaries.
I see Substack as one of the boundaries I am creating, which comes from a place of self-love, self-respect, and self-protection.
I feel deeply passionate about this topic and I want to make change. I want to help make social media a safe space for all users. And I believe I will in time.
In the meantime, I am transitioning over to Substack to create a safe space for my Bright Tribe. I’m ready to build this community of beautiful souls without distraction. I’ve looked at various other platforms over the years but none ‘felt’ right to me. I’ve uploaded my content on YouTube and Instagram throughout my career and that’s where I’ve built my community, so how could I give that up and move it all over to a completely new and different platform? Well, I’m not going to. I’ll still upload vlogs on YouTube and post updates on Instagram, but I’m going to strip that content back to being more general. It’s on here that I feel excited to share my more nitty gritty, real, and raw content, because I feel safer to do so and I also hope my audience will feel safer too. I see the Bright Tribe joining my Substack as the ones who are more aligned with my ethos, and are curious to dive into this space more.
And the content? I’m going to be speaking about the themes present in my life that I feel other people resonate with and will hopefully benefit from - a combination of topics including self-love, the journey of coming home to ourselves, spirituality, intuition, and astrology - to name just a few. To put it bluntly, we are experiencing a huge global energetic shift. The world is waking up. And I would like you to know you are not alone, many people are feeling these energy shifts too.
Of course this means I’ll be almost starting again on Substack, and I’ll be committing most of my time and energy to a much smaller audience - not everyone on my other platforms will resonate or even want to know more about the above themes. But that’s ok. I love the idea of working with a small, intimate, closed community. I’m so very excited to begin sharing on here to those who are curious! We’re going through an incredible global awakening, and I couldn’t be happier to be part of that.
My wish is for the Bright Tribe to feel confident in consuming my content on Substack, and also feel safe sharing and commenting freely. I trust we will build a deeper connection too without the fear of being judged. I see Substack as a reputable and respectable platform, mostly for educational purposes and attracting like-minded, curious souls.
So what to expect going forward?

I feel there’s an energetic exchange here for my more honest and deep content and a way to support me going forward as I embark upon this new chapter. I haven’t felt comfortable posting in this way on the public platforms, but with this intimate community on Substack it feels there is real intention and purpose.
There is also a free option to receive occasional newsletters. I’ll still be posting on YouTube and Instagram, just less frequently and not so much of the deep stuff that really lights me up!
I’m so looking forward to welcoming you on board. Don’t forget to sign up now for the first free month, and let’s see what special community we can create.
Sending love,
Beautiful! I only recently discovered you in the online space Niomi, but instantly loved your energy as a like-minded, curious soul here to support the collective to rise. Wishing you every success in your new chapter. ✨
